Background
Our project began during a month-long design sprint centered on 'managing relationships'. Focusing initially on roommate dynamics, we observed that this group faced the most conflicts, particularly in task management and communication. Expanding our research, we discovered similar challenges within various group settings, leading us to develop a comprehensive group task management tool.
Our goal is to facilitate smoother collaboration and improved relationships among individuals in shared living and other group environments.
Discover
Through a series of interviews and observations with individuals living with roommates, we have identified common challenges and pain points that serve as the root of conflicts within shared living spaces. This stage aims to define the core issues and establish a clear problem statement to guide our solution development process.

These insights have led us to recognize the need for a solution that addresses these complexities, with a focus on managing the many responsibilities that roommates encounter.

Let what the other RM is up to during the day, what tasks will be done by the end of the day/week.

Plan bathroom schedule accordingly so they avoid conflict.

Allow RM to know when RM are having friends over, or 'no friends over' time period (need extra peace for exam etc.)

Shared Calendar
Visualization: to see each rm's contribution (color coded, or emoji)
Customizable: option to switch out of tasks (upon the other rm's agreement)
Gamification: randomly assign tasks (penalty) & get out of jail card (reward - let them set their own # of "streak")
Preference: randomly assign or assign individually
Notification: auto notify task on set date, manually nudge app to send notification to rm when they're not doing their task
Task Delegation

We started with a comprehensive solution that addresses common challenges faced in shared living spaces. Our prototype boasts three essential features: Task Delegation, Shared Calendar, and Bill Splitting. Together, these functions pave the way for seamless communication, organization, and harmony among roommates.
After implementing our prototype and gathering feedback, it became evident that many individuals were already utilizing existing calendar and bill-splitting apps to manage their responsibilities, not limited to roommates but across various relationships.
Demo
Users who are already using bill splitting tool are using it with not just roommates but also with friends, colleagues, and other individuals.
Users primarily utilize calendars for tracking activities outside of their household, such as school or work-related events.
This feedback prompted us to reevaluate our approach, recognizing the value of solutions that offer versatility beyond roommate dynamics. As a result, we've shifted our focus toward creating a comprehensive solution that promotes effective communication, efficient task management, and harmonious interactions in various group and shared living settings.
